Educación Religiosa

The Baptism Liturgy is a beautiful, joyful, and prayerful experience for all who are involved. It especially requires the active participation of the parents and godparents of the child who is being baptized.

Parents and godparents whose children are to be baptized must attend a Baptismal class (third Saturday of each month; 12:30 pm) to reflect on the responsibilities they undertake when baptizing their children.

1- Los padrinos son elegidos por los padres del candidato (Can 874.1)
2- Los padrinos deben ser católicos practicantes (Can.874.1)
3- Deben tener todos los sacramentos: Bautismo, Primera Comunión y Confirmación (Can 874.1.3, 874.1.4, 874.1.5)
4- Si el padrino o madrina están casados tiene que ser por la iglesia.
5- Haber cumplido 16 años (Can.874.1.2)
6- Los padrinos no pueden ser los padres del candidato, ni tampoco los padres adoptivos.
7- No pueden ser padrinos si no tienen la intención de cumplir con las obligaciones que nuestra Iglesia Católica exige.
8- Los padrinos no pueden ser personas que hayan sido excomulgadas por la Iglesia Católica

(original or certified copy from the civil court);
Completed Baptism Registration Form
Parental Approval, if applicable: The Archdiocese of Miami requires that both both parents approve or concur with the baptism of the child. If the parents are not married to each other or one parent is not Catholic, then a notarized Letter of Permission to Baptize is required from the non-custodial or non-Catholic parent.
Sponsor Letter to be provided by the parish of the godparents. See the Godparents section for more information.
Parents and godparents must participate in the Baptism Preparation Class for Parents and Godparents.
